About the Club

The Universities Women's Cricket Club was formed in 2004. It is a club dedicated solely to women’s cricket and is backed by both Sydney University and University of NSW, and is open to all women, whether you attend university or not.

The club currently has First, Second and Third grade teams, along with an U17s (Brewer Shield) team, competing in the Sydney Women's Grade Competition.

First Grade, Second Grade and Brewer Shield play on Sundays, while Third Grade play on Saturdays. The matches are a mixture of Twenty20 and one day (50 overs) formats.

Our teams all train together with pre-season commencing on Wednesday 29th August 2018 5pm - 7.30pm in the Martin Lambert indoor nets under the TAG Grandstand at the No.2 Oval at the University of Sydney. Season training will be in the outdoor nets at No.2 Oval.

Universities Womens' Cricket Club home grounds for First, Second, Third and Brewer Shield teams are at the Sydney University and UNSW playing fields including Sydney University Ovals No. 1, David Phillips Ovals and Alan Davidson Oval.

All coaches are accredited by Cricket Australia and are led by Level 3 Head Coach Darren Smith. Overseeing and team of 7 coaches for the 2018/19 season, Darren and UWCC strive to offer an inclusive, family-friendly and supportive team to all our players.

Our club caters for beginners through to experienced players. We provide (at no cost) communal equipment to any new players who may not have the necessary equipment to play (ie bat, helmet, pads, gloves, etc).

Universities Womens' Cricket Club seeks to attract women (whether you're a university student or not) to join the club. If cricket is your chosen sport or if you are looking to play cricket as a summer sport while still wanting to play other sports such as hockey, soccer, tennis, softball, etc in winter, you are always welcome and encouraged to contact us.
